I'm setting off from the front gates of Buckingham Palace in September and walking all the way to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh (420 miles) to raise money for the Lymphoma Research Fund (through the Nottingham University Hospitals Charity N.U.H.). I will be trying to update this blog as often as possible along the walk. If you would like to donate, please go to www.justgiving.co.uk/palacetopalace2010 Thank you!

A Wet Training Walk!
Welcome to my first post! Training for my big walk has begun in earnest and we chose the wettest day here in Devon - I've officially road tested my kit and promised myself that I will NEVER forget to pack my waterproof trousers again! Lesson learnt. I might as well have dived into the sea fully clothed! The boots have held up nicely though so I reckon they will get me through the 420 mile trek.

Hi Mary! I found you! How exciting and best of luck with your walk. My tip-top-tip would be to pack everything in a waterproof liner inside your backpack so all your spare clothes, phone, camera etc. remain dry even in a downpour! You may get a little wet but that is ok because skin is waterproof and you can always get dry with your warm spare clothing! GOOD LUCK! Tom
